The landscape and jeeps reminded me so much of Jurassic Park
Alicia, Amy, Brian and Amber waiting on the dock
The camp is on an island, so we needed a boat to cross the river
I was so excited to see palm trees, they are my favorite!
We were greeted by these warning signs.
Our first event was a river boat ride. It didn't take long to find some animals. Within minutes we got very close to some very big crocs!
Hippos were popping up everywhere
We found LOTS of elephants! This reminds me of the Lion King...lots of animals surrounding a big tree by the river. So cool!
Look at the baby elephant in the middle
Hokie girls! Sarah, Lauren and Krista
After seeing probably hundreds of hippos, I started to think they are the cutest animals. Love those ears!
Umm, maybe not so cute. Very large and very dangerous.
We got on the jeeps for an evening land safari
The seat in the front is for the guide to shine a light and to protect us if we encountered trouble.
Radford group
We paid extra so we could go inside the Black Rhino Sanctuary. There is only one Rhino inside so it was doubtful we would see it, but we were really hoping to see some Zebras!
Not really sure what this is but its pretty cool looking!
We found Zebras!!!
Beautiful sunset
I love this picture. Its such a desktop background photo.
Dinner was amazing!
Our chalets! We had a roof but the walls were just curtains and nets.
We didn't realize we would be sharing our room with tons of lizards.
Our chalet was so close to the water. The guide told us its located on "hippo highway" and we learned why it was called that as the night went on....we heard hippos jumping into the water ALL night long.
Monkeys everywhere!
We woke up early for a walking safari. "Danger" was our guides name. We had a man with a gun follow us because you never know what you will run into. I stayed close to the man with the gun!
We woke up to come to breakfast and this elephant was wondering around our food area. He was taking down trees with one tug from his trunk!
It was the dry season, but we saw this little burst of color!
Pumba!! They were just wondering around the playground. It really is the wild, there was no fences or anything.. the animals were just everywhere.
A whole family
They look cute from far away, but they really aren't the most attractive things.
After the morning walk, we got another river safari. Krista took this picture, I was just taking it all in and enjoying the scenery.
Elephants! Did you know they spend 18 hours of the day just eating?
We got SO close to the elephants!
National Geographic has nothing on me
