PICS- Zomba Town

Our hotel was on a mountain. The town was at the bottom of the mountain. Every afternoon/ weekend we could go to town to get our errands done and explore.  These pictures give you an idea of what "town" really meant.

The first Sunday we were there, we walked to this church. Beautiful building!
Lauren, Sarah, Amber and Krista. We were waiting for the service to begin.  Malawian time teaches you to be patient.
The church invited us to tea after the service.
This is where we exchanged our money.  We went here often.

I scanned the money I kept as a souvenir. This is what kwacha looks like! Only the large bills were clean and fresh.  They didn't give bills higher than 500 kwacha. So we could go in with a 100 US bill and come out with wads of kwacha.

The grocery store.... we went here often too!
This is where I developed my pictures
Fegs- Its like a stationary store. They have postcards, paper and office supplies.
A good pictures to show you the landscape
Krista made friends with one of the vendors, Martin.
 Post Office
They put a picture of their president on a pole with flowers around it! ha
This is Malawians version of Price Club- everything in bulk!
While we were in town, we ran into one of the bartenders at the lodge, Joe. He was buying a birthday gift for his daughter.  He helped us navigate through town.
This picture cracks me up!  The vendors never leave us alone.  This is Sarah working her magic and haggling through the windows.  When the price was to high, she closed the window on them until they lowered it.
The market was quite a site.  I love how the food was arranged, presentation is key.

YUCK!  piles of fish for sale.  You cannot imagine the smell going through the fish isle.
Tasty Bites!
We were such fans of Tasty Bites, we got their t-shirts! haha
Inside Tasty Bites. Brittany, Amber, Lauren and Sarah.
